Business Research and Vitalization of Honam Studies

Research and Vitalization of Honam Studies

Research and Vitalization of Honam Studies are based on the research on humanities, history, social studies, arts, etc. unique to the Honam region. We plan to investigate the identity of Honam Korean Studies by expanding the boundaries of Honam studies.

First is the operation of programs to foster talents of future generations who are specializing in Humanities and Korean Studies of the region. We are operating professional lectures in Korean Studies to foster specialists who have the ability to comprehend Chinese characters and historical knowledge and can systematically organize and decode original materials of traditional culture. Also, we are operating the traditional culture spaces of Seowon and Hyanggyo (that are currently closed), as well as training programs for fostering young Confucian scholars for the preservation and successful inheritance of these precious traditional cultural spaces.

Second, we are researching areas of Honam Studies that have yet to be discovered. We are carrying out promotional projects for historical figures to investigate, organize, and research the records of unofficial resistance armies, independence, Mahan, and historical figures of the Honam region to reestablish the importance and value of Honam people who have left great achievements in history. Also, the research and expansion of areas that are yet to be studied systematically are being attempted through a public discovery contest project.

Third, specialized content that reflects the outcomes of existing research is being produced for Honam Studies TV to contribute to the expansion of cultural SOC.  Meanwhile, Honam Studies is being made available and being distributed through our support for cultural centers and local organizations. With our mission for vitalization, backed by outstanding research, we plan to consistently develop and operate projects that help researchers of Korean Studies in both Korea and overseas, as well as the next generation of researchers to come in the future.
